A lot of monolithic applications were operated, which led to enormous containers after an update to OpenShift. This resulted in alarms every week because the usage was above the configured threshold, which is very problematic – if one of the nodes had an unexpected failure, the others would not have been able to cope with the workload.

The rapid support and expertise of our cloudWerkstatt experts enabled the necessary monitoring to reveal the high resource consumption. With these findings, our experts suggested adding additional nodes or splitting the applications into smaller services.
The latter was chosen, resulting in an optimized use of resources and a stable environment. As a result, no additional clusters had to be added and a cost increase was avoided. Throughout the entire process, cloudWerkstatt supported the updating of the worker nodes, the operation of the infrastructure and the ongoing 24/7 support.
